Texas Acts of Kindness was founded as a grassroots nonprofit by Teresa Williams, owner of KJ Custom, LLC, with a simple but powerful mission: to give back to the communities that support the trades and the people who keep them running. What began during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to support local families and industry partners has grown into a registered 501(c)(3) organization focused on uplifting Texans through generosity, community support, and meaningful acts of service. TAK also supports a local children’s home in Denton along with support to the Collin County Veterans Coalition.
As Texas Acts of Kindness evolved, so did its commitment to creating long-term impact—particularly through education and workforce development. That commitment naturally aligned with BuildHERS, a podcast and growing community dedicated to empowering, educating, and elevating women in the building industry. Teresa Williams is also a founder and co-host of the BuildHERS Podcast, bringing her passion for the trades, leadership, and mentorship directly into the BuildHERS mission.
Together, Texas Acts of Kindness and BuildHERS are working hand in hand to support the next generation of skilled professionals by providing scholarships for individuals pursuing careers in the trades, with a strong focus on women entering construction, technical, and hands-on fields. These scholarships help cover tuition, certifications, tools, and training-removing financial barriers and opening doors to sustainable, rewarding careers.
Fundraisers and community events connected to BuildHERS operate under the Texas Acts of Kindness nonprofit umbrella, ensuring that proceeds directly support trade education and scholarship initiatives. Through this partnership, kindness is transformed into opportunity, and community support becomes a pathway to growth, empowerment, and lasting change.
